Last Update: 7/30/2003 - 8:00 am EDT As a cooperative effort of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) and the National Safety Council (NSC), Traffic Safety Analysis Systems & Services, Inc. (TSASS) is facilitating a series of meetings with State Traffic Records Coordinating Committees (TRCCs). These meetings have several purposes. The primary purpose of the meetings is to allow the NSC to brief the State TRCC members on the various safety data projects that are under way and planned at the US-DOT. This Safety Data Projects Briefing will also cover significant non-DOT initiatives at the national and state level which might impact upon state traffic records systems planning. A list of the current projects that will be covered during the NSC briefing can be found at: http://tsass-tsis.com/projects The NSC Staff will also provide information on the new Association of Transportation Safety Information Professionals (the former Traffic Records Committee) and the annual Traffic Records Forum. (http://www.atsip.org) The second part of the state briefings will be conducted by staff from TSASS and will focus on several information gathering efforts by NHTSA and BTS. Included in this discussion will be the Inventory of State Safety Data Systems, Catalog of State Traffic Crash Report Forms, and Safety Exposure Database Project. TSASS staff will also be presenting information on several new web-based safety data programs including the BTS TranStats web site. This web provides information on the current schedule of state briefing meetings.
